Mattress Firm Holding Corp., the retailer of mattresses and bedding accessories, opened its 1,500th and largest store at Sonora Village in Scottsdale, AZ on Aug. 22. The almost 24,000-square-foot store brings Mattress Firm’s store count to 85 in Arizona and underscores the retailer’s current high growth trajectory.

“We are thrilled to open this expansive space in Phoenix,” said Steve Stagner, president and CEO of Mattress Firm, Inc. “The size of this retail location is a strategic opportunity in the market and supports our mission to provide customers with an unprecedented amount of bedding options at varying price points all under one roof.”

The grand opening event kicked off with a variety of activities. The first 50 participants to arrive battled in the 9:45 a.m. “Pillow Fight,” an 80-second “sweep” through the store for a prize package of luxury sheets, pillows and bedding accessories. Additionally, Mattress Firm hosted a raffle to win luxury mattresses and massage chairs, a suite for 18 at an Arizona Diamondbacks game, as well as an autograph signing session with Luis Gonzalez, former Diamondbacks player, free food and beverages, a bounce house, bungee run, arcade games, and much more. Prizes given away for the day totaled more than $20,000.
