Bedding specialty retailer Innovative Mattress Solutions has added 16 stores with the purchase of Nashville, Tenn.-based Mattresses Unlimited.

Kim Knopf, CEO of IMS, said the deal was concluded Oct. 26. The acquisition will boost IMS' presence in the Louisville, Ky., market and will mark its entry into the state of Tennessee, the company said.

IMS, which does business in Louisville under the Sleep Outfitters name, currently has 14 stores in that market, while Mattresses Unlimited has seven stores there. Mattresses Unlimited also operated nine stores in Nashville.
